If you’re at this page, chances are you’ve probably come across the acronym “OBM” or have heard someone talking about it recently and was wondering what it really meant. In the business world at least, OBM stand for “Online Business Manager”.
Operating much like an on-site “Office Manager”, an OBM can help in running your business’ numerous day-to-day activities, including project management, implementing business systems, and even managing your virtual team.
When OBMs are well-equipped and aligned with your company’s business goals, they will also be able to take on a variety of other virtual responsibilities such as delegating tasks relating to online marketing, graphic design work, calendaring, email-ing, and voicemail management. Some OBMs have even gone to help with coordinating travel arrangements and event planning!
With an OBM, the possibilities are endless if you are able to build off of each other’s strengths in delegation. Working synergistically with your OBM can also add a solid core to your company, helping you to ensure that everything else is running smoothly with skilled expertise.
There has been some debate as to the minute differences between a Virtual Assistant (VA) and an OBM; Remember, perception is not always reality! VAs are typically more experienced in specific administrative tasks, while OBMs generally oversee across various expertises. OBMs are able to manage VAs and take care of the more strategic “behind the scenes” work.
Here at iVBS, we believe that putting an OBM on your team is an effective response to your business’ needs, which can only lead towards a universal increase in its success.
